Wanjala: “Joining the Valencia CF Academy is a great opportunity”

Interview with the new VCF Mestalla player

VCF Mestalla have signed centre-back Amos Wanjala to strengthen the defence of the Valencianista reserve side. The 19-year-old player arrives after competing with Athletic Club Torrellano, where he gained experience in Tercera Federación. He is also an international with Kenya and was captain of his country’s U-20 national team at the most recent Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

“I am very happy to be here at Valencia CF. It is a great Club with a great history. The Valencia CF Academy is a great Academy. It is a great opportunity for me and I want to make the most of it and achieve more success with Valencia CF,” says Amos Wanjala, who has already had the chance to meet his new teammates, whom he hopes to help on the pitch. He defines himself as a centre-back who is “calm and composed, solid and good on the ball”.

Amos Wanjala is already familiar with Spanish football -having played for Athletic Club Torrellano- and also has international experience with the Kenya national team, for whom he is a full international.

“I am very happy to be able to represent my country here in Valencia. It is an achievement for my country, for myself and for my family. I know my family are very happy. They have been with me throughout this journey. Now it is time to bear fruit and I am also very happy to be here. I know many Kenyans are looking forward to seeing me at Valencia CF and this is the moment. I am fully focused on the team,” says Amos Wanjala.
